CNC Frame Saw Blade Grinder

This new CNC Grinder for the sharpening of frame saw blades offers the customer a significantly improved alternative to the original Cam-Timing Grinder.  Until now, the only option for grinding saw blades was with a cam-timing system.  With this system, the profile of the saw tooth is ground through various cams that interact with one another.  If one of these cam settings is changed the profile of the tooth changes.  Although this system has worked, it is subject to many variables.

With the new CNC Grinder, the grinding cycle is controlled via CNC servo motors; the result being that the profile of tooth remains consistent.  The advantages:

t                  More saw blade re-grinds are achieved on the CNC grinder because of its accuracy and consistency.

t                  A better finish on the wood is achieved because each tooth is ground more accurately.

t                  The re-grinds will be consistent from one machine operator to another.

This is a fully automatic CNC wet grinding machine for the grinding of both hogging and frame saw blades.  The blade is placed on the infeed side of the machine (on the right hand side).  The saw blade is then pushed to the left and into position via a pushing finger.  Once the blade is in position, the blade is clamped securely into position ready for grinding.  The shape of the tooth contour is achieved via two CNC servo motors, one which controls the Y axis (in and out motion of the grinding wheel) and one which controls the X axis (left to right motion of the grinding wheel).  During one grinding cycle the saw blade teeth can be ground multiple times.  The number of grinds would be determined by how dull the saw blade is and by the amount of stellite or carbide that needs to be removed.  On average, each tooth would have two grinds, one rough and one finish.  The operator would program this value into the computer.
